Hippotherapy

RISE Rehab utilizes the option of equine movement or hippotherapy, which is defined as how therapists use evidence based practice and clinical reasoning in the purposeful manipulation of equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuro-motor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes.

Hippotherapy encompasses physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language therapy.

Adaptive Riding

RISE Therapeutic Equestrian Center teaches horsemanship and riding skills to individuals with a special need of any kind. In addition to equestrian skills, the rider learns social, behavioral and communication skills fostering a relationship with the horse and reinforcing positive behavior in social situations.

Intensives

RISE intensives are a unique approach to hippotherapy and therapeutic riding that provides incredible impact, offering an opportunity for profound neurological and regulatory changes. RISE Intensives are offered in one-week blocks, with daily sessions Monday through Friday for one (1) hour each day.

Intensives are offered during our fall, spring, and summer semesters. If you are a new client, a client assessment is required prior to your intensive.

If you are interested in scheduling an intensive or have questions, please contact Karen@riserehab.org

Rider Requirements...

In order to provide the best benefit and the safest environment for our clients, we have established guidelines for establishing who qualifies for the program:

To protect our clients, volunteers, and horses, weight guidelines have been established. If a horse is utilized in therapy, established weight guidelines are relative to the horses and volunteers available, and will be addressed individually if problems arise (client plus tack cannot exceed 20% of the horse’s weight).

New Client Forms...

After you have completed and submitted your forms, you may either contact RISE directly or one of our team members will reach out to you (within 48 hours) to schedule your initial screening by a RISE therapist or instructor.
Forms will be provided to you through our secure patient portal once an evaluation is completed.
